    Question

I've read the sticky, I just thought I'd get some other real life experience from those of you who have sent a doll OR hosted a doll.

I will send Molly, her PJs (and maybe bathrobe), Route 66 outfit, and probably her school jumper. I figure that's enough clothes, especially because I'm hoping she'll be sharing clothes while she's "experiencing" the doll that she's visiting--so she'd dress up like Kaya once while hanging out with her. But on that same line, I wanted to send enough so that her host could experience Molly and share her stuff, too!

I'm also going to send a journal for people to keep info in, stick in postcards or other souveniers--

A letter to her hosts, with info and instructions and shipping/packing info and also an inventory list of what she came with so that everything will be included when she's shipped on.

    Any other thoughts?

I sent Gemma out with three outfits: a school uniform, a dress for more formal occasions and a pair of feetie PJs. That seemed to cover all of the clothing she needed and she did, as you note, share outfits with the hosts' girls while she was with each of the families.

I have hosted 3 dolls and I found that the travelling doll ends up sharing clothes. Send as little as possible. Her box becomes quite full.

Cambria came with a scrapbook and stickers - her scrapbook was AMAZING so far. Brooke had also included a note saying the scrapbook was her "gift" and not to give her souvineers. I put the postcards right into the scrapbook.

When I had Avaleigh, her box was so heavy she was getting crushed in it. The same happened with Amanda. I mailed the souvineers back seperately.

I would say just send her with her Jammies, a journal/scrapbook and your contact info!

Don't forget a camera for members who may not have a digital camera! A journal is a must have and a stuffed animal or doll is also a great idea so she won't get lonely on her journey. I made Josefina a corn husk doll and bought Jessie a Ty mini bear, Miss no name, who we called Alethea, brought her special fairy doll.

When I sent Ruthie, I sent her in a big box that I already had. Inside, she had an information packet, summer outfit, dress, pjs, jacket, fleece pullover, mini backpack, mini TY bear, journal/scrapbook, and a dog to keep her company. It sounds like a lot, but it really wasn't. I packed all of the clothes in Ziplocs to save on space and to keep them from wrinkling, too.

I must admit that her box is pretty full with souvenirs, now, but I'll just have her host ship a few home. I really think that souvenirs are a great way to help the doll "remember" her trip when she gets back home. They shouldn't be too big, but something little is always appreciated. I usually send a few pamphlets, postcards, and a mini doll/stuffed animal if the doll doesn't have one. Traveling Cambria, for example, is being sent on with her Christmas presents (a mini doll and book of travel games), a Colonial "hornbook," Williamsburg mini postcards and pamphlets.

***Edited to add that please don't forget to send your girl with undies! Cambria lost her original pair, so we had to sew her a new pair. LOL. Just a tip.***

I was kind of thinking the same thing, Kym, that she didn't really need tons of clothes, and I know that if she gets a few souveniers that the box can get heavy/full fast. I have a neat little travel-themed journal that I'm going to send as her scrapbook, and it shouldn't be big/heavy either.

Edited because I was posting at the same time as samanthasmom-a stuffed animal is a good idea! Dd will like that. She has some of the Ty mini bears that were happy meal toys and Addy and Kit went to sleep with them last week.
